JCUVA ACTIVITIES

Below the JCUVA activities promoted by the research group in the last years:

“Introduction to Space Exploration and Its use”

From november 13rd to december 1st, 2023.
In the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid.
This course has been designed to provide basic and interdisciplinary training in the areas of knowledge involved in space exploration;
It is an initiative open to all those interested in space exploration, and especially to UCM students, who want to acquire basic knowledge about its most relevant aspects with the endorsement of our Institution.

“On the path to the New Ultraviolet Astronomy: scientific challenges and new technologies”

From October 24th to 26th, 2023.
the NUVA annual eMeeting is thought as a contact point for the on-going global activities for the definition of the next generation of UV instrumentation.
These e-meetings are dedicated to specific topics to take advantage of the short time frame available for this type of global e-reunions. They are typically scheduled from 14:00 to 17:00 UTC during 1-3 days, depending on the demand of the community.

“Data protection and observation satellites”

From October 2nd to 5th, 2023.
the course will take place in the Miguel de Guzmán Classroom (Fac. CC Mathematics, UCM) as well as virtually with prior registration. Organized by the AEGORA Research Group together with the European project EuroSpaceHub and AEDAE – Spanish Association of Aeronautical and Aerospace Law.

“Cubesats for education and entrepreneurship in the space sector”

On June 27th 2022.
the Conference took place under the framework of the EUROSPACEHUB Project at the La Hita Astronomical Observatory, in the town of La Puebla de Almoradiel (Toledo): https://fundacionastrohita .org/.

“The Moon as the next destination. OUL PROJECT”.

On November 24th, 2022.
the I Latino Lunar Lobby Congress took place virtually, with the intervention of space agencies, companies from the aerospace sector and scientists from Spain and Latin America.

“Ultraviolet Astronomy in the XXI Century”

From october 3rd to 7th, 2022.
NUVA face-to-face meeting workshop was held in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain) to address fundamental issues concerning the world-wide coordination of the UV astronomy community.

“Status and new UV results from HST, Astrosat and LUT”.

26th and 27th october 2021.
October After the success of the NUVA Workshop, virtual e-meeting held in October 2020, the NUVA has decided to organize an e-meeting, lasting 1-2 days, every year. The 2021 e-meeting was held on 26th and 27th October from JCUVA facilities.

“Exploración Espacial desde la Luna”

2nd june 2021.
Jornada sobre la Exploración de la Luna organizada por el Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico e Industrial (CDTI, España), Joint Center for Ultraviolet Astronomy (Universidad Complutense de Madrid y el Instituto de Astronomía de la Academia de Ciencias de Rusia) y la Asociación Española de Derecho Aeronáutico y Espacial (AEADE, España).

“Ultraviolet Astronomy in the XXI Century”

27th and 29th october 2020.
Every 3 years, the Network for Ultraviolet Astronomy organizes a Workshop to coordinate international action on the needs and means for Ultraviolet astronomy. In October 2020, the NUVA will hold its 5th workshop. The workshop has been split into two events to the covid-19 pandemic.

The testing of the engineering model of the Micro Channels Plate (MCP) detector

29th november 2019.
The testing of the engineering model of the Micro Channels Plate (MCP) detector to be used in the Field Camera Unit (FCU) on board the Spektr-UF / WSO-UV space telescope has started. These activities are the first step for preparing the qualification campaign that will take place during 2020.

50th anniversary of the arrival of man on the moon

The commemoration day of the arrival of man on the moon on its 50th anniversary event, took place at the Madrid Deep Space Communications Complex (MDSCC) in Robledo de Chavela, Madrid on 19th and 20th july, 2019

The Preliminary Design Review (PDR) meeting of the WSO-UV Field Camera Unit

The Preliminary Design Review (PDR) meeting of the WSO-UV Field Camera Unit took place in INASAN (Moscow) on 20-May-2019, with attendees from Russia (INASAN, IKI, LA), Spain (UCM, SENER) and Japan (Rikkyo University).

The inauguration of the JCUVA Center

26th october 2017.
The Complutense University of Madrid and the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences have created the Joint Center for Ultraviolet Astronomy (JCUVA). The inauguration of the JCUVA Center took place on October 27, 2017 at the JCUVA facilities on the Complutense University of Madrid.

Spektr-UF/ WSO-UV project working group meeting

30th may 2017.
the Spektr-UF/ WSO-UV project working group meeting was held at the UCM facilities . It was attended by representatives of the Astronomical Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences (INASAN), the Institute for Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI) and the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness of Spain ( MINECO).
